After the meeting, i really thinking, when will my project finish... so many new surprise ....

I hate taking taxi in sg

Recently, I really had bad experience taking cab in sg. On sunday evening, need to go to sg expo hall 2, therefore told the taxi driver want to go to sg expo hall 2, guess what he alight us at the main taxi stand which is not what we want. We say this is not what we want, he keep quiet and pretand that he does not understand and drive off. So angry. then on my way home from there, the driver do a big loop before I reach my home.. 1 day 2 bad experience.

Then on Tue morning, after my nite job, at abt 8am+, i couldn't get any taxi at ten mile junction. Call the taxi hot-line, cant get a taxi. Then i have no choice walk to bukit panjang plaza, hopping to get taxi at there. Guess what a lot of ppl waiting n no taxi also. So no choice i call to book taxi again and manage to get one but guess wat. the taxi never shown up, i have to call again. To re-scudeule another cab. Waiting for cab, called for cab, nearly an hour time wasted. I reach home nearly 11am, if i took bus and change mrt but have to stand throughtout the jounery, i would have reach home much early. haiz.. what happen to the standard of local taxi, we paying more but we never get better service. =( I really don't like it.

Long time never blogging....

This year is really a busy year... been bz bz bz.... it seem like i donnoe when i really spent time with my usual gang... I been keep quiet for vy long... hope the project will be over soon so i could spend sometime with my friends n family...

Also need sometime to be on my own too... cant wait to have a short break out of work...

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem , almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the oth! er things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Please share this with other "Golf Balls"
I just did.......

Individual Discouragement And Personal Enlargement

11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
Exodus2:11

We have to learn that our individual effort for God is an impertinence;our individuality is to be rendered incandescent by a personal relationship to God. We fix on the individual aspect things; we have the vision - "This is what God wants me to do," but we have not got into God's stride. If you are going through a time of discouragement, there is a big personal enlargement ahead.

Best Seat in the House by Bonnie Kidder, Lafayette, Louisiana

I almost hadn't come to the class at church that night. With four kids and a full-time teaching job, I had plenty to do.

But my 11-year-old son, Brady, was having surgery the next day. I hated to think of him alone in the operating room. I'd been praying for weeks, asking God to be with Brady and his doctors during surgery, but it didn't feel like enough.

Standing in the doorway of the church hall I couldn't believe how many people had showed up for this class. It looked like more than a hundred were seated at the tables scattered throughout the hall-but not a familiar face among them.

No one I can ask to pray with me for Brady. I sat down at a table next to a dark-haired man, but the instructor immediately asked us to move.

"Let's fill in all these vacant chairs up front," she said. The dark-haired man got up to look for another seat. I crossed the room to an empty chair. But just as I got there, someone else took it. I spotted another chair at the next table. The same thing happened again. And again.

I did not come here for a game of musical chairs, I thought as I made a beeline for another chair. I flung myself into it and turned to see...the same dark-haired man I'd left behind.

"We meet again," he said as the instructor stood to speak.

"Tonight I thought we'd talk about our lives outside of church," she said. "Everybody share with the people at your table how you work your faith into your daily life."

The dark-haired man said, "I'm an anesthesiologist. Before I put a patient under, I pray for him. I ask each patient if they'd like to pray too. I used to be embarrassed about this..."

"I think it's wonderful!" I interrupted. "My son is having surgery tomorrow. I'd feel so much better if his doctor could pray with him."

"Where is his surgery?" he asked.

I mentioned the hospital. "Dr. Duplechain is doing the operation."

"Then I can assure you that your son will be surrounded by prayer," he said, "because I'm the one scheduled to be taking him into the operating room."

In a room full of strangers, God had seated me - twice! - next to the one man who could pray with me tonight and my son in the morning.

Forgiveness and Healing

Her husband seemed revived after speaking with a mysterious visitor.

By Melissa Deal Forth
Atlanta, Georgia

Six years after we were married, my 29-year-old husband was fighting leukemia. Pain dulled Chris's blue eyes; he was barely able to move without help. Doctors offered little hope, and for months I slept on a cot alongside his bed at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

At 3 a.m. one morning, I was shaken awake by an alarmed nurse. "We can't find Chris!" she exclaimed. My eyes darted to his bed. The sheet was turned back; the bed empty. How...?

I jumped up and raced past the nurses' station outside the room, then ran down the hall. As I passed the glass-paneled chapel door, I glimpsed Chris sitting inside with someone. I burst in, crying, "Chris, we were so worried...."

He turned and smiled. "I'm fine," he said. I stared at the young man who sat with him. His skin was smooth and clear, and he had short white hair. He wore exactly the type of clothes Chris liked: checked flannel shirt, crisp Levi's and lace-up work boots.

The young man looked up at me and my heart caught. As I stared into his crystal-blue eyes, I felt stunned. Chris broke the spell. "Melissa, please leave us," he asked. "I'm OK. I'll be back."

After reporting Chris's whereabouts (no one else in that security-tight hospital had seen his visitor), I went back to our room. About 30 minutes later Chris returned exhilarated, merrily rolling his IV pole-walking on his own! And he didn't look sick anymore. "Who was that man?" I gasped, not sure what to ask first.

"You'll never believe it," he grinned. "It was an angel-my guardian angel."

Chris sat down on the bed. "I awoke with an overpowering urge to go to the chapel," he explained, "and I was able to walk there easily. As I knelt at the cross I heard a voice behind me, and I turned to find him standing there. He asked if there was anything I wanted to be forgiven for.

"I've always hated my stepfather. The angel said I was forgiven, and you know, for the first time, the hatred I had harbored for so long was truly gone. Then I told him I was worried about leaving you. He said you would be fine, that all my prayers were answered."

The next day with Chris was unbelievable. He ate well and visited patients on our floor, buoying their spirits. I thought he was healed.

Two days later Chris died. But in a very real sense I know that he had been healed-healed of fear and pain, ready to go on to new life.

The deepest secret is the life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation.

You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew.
Seek, therefore, not to find out Who You Are, Seek to determine Who You Want to Be.

Do you agreed? It seem so easy to understand, but can I really do it.... or I think too much. :P

To help ward off dementia

Implementation of some of these ideas may help!

To help ward off dementia, train your brain. Timing is everything. It's also important when it comes to taking care of your brain. Yet most of us start worrying about dementia after retirement - and that may be too little, too late.

Experts say that if you really want to ward off dementia, you need to
start taking care of your brain in your 30s and 40s - or even earlier.

"More and more research is suggesting that lifestyle is very important
to your brain's health," says Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a neuropsychologist and
an adjunct associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of
Medicine. "If you want to live a long, healthy life, then many of us
need to start as early as we can."

So what can you do to beef up your brain - and possibly ward off
dementia? Nussbaum, who recently gave a speech on the topic for the
Winter Park (Fla.) Health Foundation, offers 20 tips that may help.

1. Join clubs or organizations that need volunteers. If you start
volunteering now, you won't feel lost and unneeded after you retire.

2. Develop a hobby or two. Hobbies help you develop a robust brain
because you're trying something new and complex.

3. Practice writing with your nondominant hand several minutes every
day. This will exercise the opposite side of your brain and fire up
those neurons.

4. Take dance lessons. In a study of nearly 500 people, dancing was the
only regular physical activity associated with a significant decrease in
the incidence of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. The people who
danced three or four times a week showed 76 percent less incidence of
dementia than those who danced only once a week or not at all.

5. Need a hobby? Start gardening. Researchers in New Zealand found
that, of 1,000 people, those who gardened regularly were less likely to
suffer from dementia. Not only does gardening reduce stress, but
gardeners use their brains to plan gardens; they use visual and spatial
reasoning to lay out a garden.

6. Buy a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps a day. Walking daily can
reduce the risk of dementia because cardiovascular health is important
to maintain blood flow to the brain.

7. Read and write daily. Reading stimulates a wide variety of brain
areas that process and store information. Likewise, writing (not
copying) stimulates many areas of the brain as well.

8. Start knitting. Using both hands works both sides of your brain. And
it's a stress reducer..

9. Learn a new language. Whether it's a foreign language or sign
language, you are working your brain by making it go back and forth
between one language and the other. A researcher in England found that
being bilingual seemed to delay symptoms of Alzheimer's disease for four
years. (And some research suggests that the earlier a child learns sign
language, the higher his IQ - and people with high IQs are less likely
to have dementia. So start them early.)

10. Play board games such as Scrabble and Monopoly. Not only are you
taxing your brain, you're socializing too. (Playing solo games, such as
solitaire or online computer brain games can be helpful, but Nussbaum
prefers games that encourage you to socialize too.)

11. Take classes throughout your lifetime. Learning produces structural
and chemical changes in the brain, and education appears to help people
live longer. Brain researchers have found that people with advanced
degrees live longer - and if they do have Alzheimer's, it often becomes
apparent only in the very later stages of the disease.

12. Listen to classical music. A growing volume of research suggests
that music may hard wire the brain, building links between the two
hemispheres. Any kind of music may work, but there's some research that
shows positive effects for classical music, though researchers don't
understand why.

13.. Learn a musical instrument. It may be harder than it was when you
were a kid, but you'll be developing a dormant part of your brain.

14. Travel. When you travel (whether it's to a distant vacation spot or
on a different route across town), you're forcing your brain to navigate
a new and complex environment. A study of London taxi drivers found
experienced drivers had larger brains because they have to store lots of
information about locations and how to navigate there.

15. Pray. Daily prayer appears to help your immune system. And people
who attend a formal worship service regularly live longer and report
happier, healthier lives.

16. Learn to meditate. It's important for your brain that you learn to
shut out the stresses of everyday life.

17. Get enough sleep. Studies have shown a link between interrupted
sleep and dementia.

18. Eat more foods containing omega-3 fatty acids: Salmon, sardines,
tuna, ocean trout, mackerel or herring, plus walnuts (which are higher
in omega 3s than salmon) and flaxseed. Flaxseed oil, cod liver oil and
walnut oil are good sources too..

19. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants in fruits and
vegetables mop up some of the damage caused by free radicals, one of the
leading killers of brain cells.

20. Eat at least one meal a day with family and friends. You'll slow
down, socialize, and research shows you'll eat healthier food than if
you ate alone or on the go.

Oldest New Testament Bible heads into cyberspace

By Dave Graham

BERLIN (Reuters) - More than 1,600 years after it was written in Greek, one of the oldest copies of the Bible will become globally accessible online for the first time this week.

From Thursday, sections of the Codex Sinaiticus, which contains the oldest complete New Testament, will be available on the Internet, said the University of Leipzig, one of the four curators of the ancient text worldwide.

High resolution images of the Gospel of Mark, several Old Testament books, and notes on the work made over centuries will appear on www.codex-sinaiticus.net as a first step towards publishing the entire manuscript online by next July.

Ulrich Johannes Schneider, director of Leipzig University Library, which holds part of the manuscript, said the publication of the Codex online would allow anyone to study a work of "fundamental" importance to Christians.

"A manuscript is going onto the net which is like nothing else online to date," Schneider said. "It's also an enrichment of the virtual world -- and a bit of a change from YouTube."

Selected translations will be available in English and German for those not conversant in ancient Greek, he added.

Dating from around 350, the document is believed by experts to be the oldest known copy of the Bible, along with the Codex Vaticanus, another ancient version of the Bible, Schneider said.

The vellum manuscript came to Europe piece by piece from Saint Catherine's Monastery by Mount Sinai after German biblical scholar Konstantin von Tischendorf found a number of folios there in 1844. He was allowed to take some to Leipzig.

Tischendorf returned to the monastery in 1859 with Russian backing and acquired the biggest section of the Bible for his imperial sponsors. It remained in St. Petersburg until the Soviet Union sold it to the British Museum in 1933.

"The first section was clearly a gift to Tischendorf, but that's not so clear in the case of the second portion. The monks all signed a contract at the time, but the rumor persists that they were given a raw deal," said Schneider.

"And there is probably some truth to this."

Subsequent discoveries meant that the original Codex, missing roughly half the Old Testament, is now housed at four locations in Europe and the Middle East.

The project, launched in cooperation with the Russian National Library, the British Library and Saint Catherine's Monastery, also details the condition of the Bible, believed to have been written by early Christians in Egypt.

"I think it's just fantastic that thanks to technology we can now make the oldest cultural artifacts -- ones that were once so precious you couldn't show them to anyone -- accessible to everyone, in really high quality," said Schneider.

Today weather

Today weather look good.. making my mood feel good too :)

Traffic jam in express way

Today as usual took train to bugis to change 960 (bus) to Bukit panjang. Usually in the morning, i am lucky never met any traffic jam. if i reach the bus stop at 8am, will reach abt 8.30~8.45am.

Today, reach the same time but reach office at 9.20am. Slow traffic on the express way.. hope i will not always meet with this kind of traffic condition.

Looking for HDB flat

Yesterday went to view a flat at AMK area... When i reach the void deck, i don't really like it. It near to the MRT, location was good. but i feel not enough light in the block.

When i reach the unit, wah... the owner rent it out. the whole house condition was very bad. It really not worst to get it. Will need at least 40~50K to recondition the whole house. just not worth the price.

Hope i really no need to spent every weekend looking for houses. Able to get a beautiful house that no need to spent a lot of money on it. I think the most important are the price. Nowadays the price are all so expensive. At least 300K+++ for a 4 room flat.

Lewis birthday card

Meiping birthday card

MRT very packed...

Everyday taking mrt to work is a pain... the train always so packed and the worst, ppl are not moving inside. They always occupied a lot of space, able to read newsapaper. n i was being force to stay near the door, plus i need to bring notebook therefore my bag are big, and being force to put on the floor.

When i put on the floor, when the station door open, i will have diffcult to move inside or out. Today even worst, a lady keep moving vy close to me, and i have to support her weight... haiz... this is how bad when i travel to and back from work. it getting worst nowadays....

sometime i prefer to take bus, as i able to sit down... but too bad, i not able to take direct bus to work... travel time too long, mrt is still the fastest...

having headache....

I think it because of late night sleep this wk... i having headache now. This wk monday slept late because of watching movie, tue night because of remote working from home from 1am ~ 3am+

Now i having be able to recover... i think tonight i will sleep early also.. same as yday night around 10plus i already went to bed... haiz... i don't think i even able to escape from this kind of lifestyle.. up-side-down sleeping pattern.

The seed

"...The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God's word,
but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, and
the lure of wealth, so NO fruit is produced..." - Matt 13:7-22 or Luke 8:11-15

Weeds and thorns in our hearts choke out good things and pose a threat to righteous and fruitful living.
(i) When I complain, I choke out contentment
(ii) When I worry, I choke out peace
(iii) When I judge, I choke out mercy
When I finish weeding, I offered thanks that through God's power,
I can experience victory over things that would otherwise choke His truth.

Just for Fun ;)
